why we run

Firefighters risk their lives to protect us, but the dangers don’t end when the fire is out. Many face occupational cancer from toxic exposures on the job.

Join us for a run honoring the legacy of Captain George Sisson, a lifelong firefighter who served the DMV area over 40 years. George battled cancer with the same resilience that defined his career.

Your support helps raise awareness and funds for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) to provide resources, education, and mentorship to firefighters navigating a cancer diagnosis.
